3. Candle Wicks

How To Make Scented Soy Candles

1. Prepare all your supplies for candle making. Place your soy wax in the pouring pitcher and heat it, by placing it in a double boiler. Make sure not to overheat your wax as it may result in discolouration.

2. If you want to add fragrance oil to your candles, add it to the pouring pitcher and make sure that the melted soy wax is not too cool or else the fragrance oil will not dissolve properly. When your wax does not have the right temperature, the fragrance oil will end up pooling at the bottom of the pouring pitcher and won’t combine with your wax no matter how much you stir it. You can ask our staff about the temperature recommendations of our soy wax when you purchase them at our shop. Use a thermometer to check the temperature of the candle wax during the process, so you avoid overheating the wax.

3. Once you’ve finished mixing the soy wax and the fragrance oil, let the mixture cool down in the pouring pitcher until it reaches the right pouring temperature.

4. Prepare the containers and wicks for pouring. You can use a hot glue gun to paste the wick at the bottom centre of the container. Use a wick holder to keep the wick in place, then pour the soy wax mixture into the candle container. Since the wick will soften and bend once the hot wax is poured all over it inside the container, having a wick holder will come in handy.

5. Let the scented candles cool completely. This will take a couple of hours, depending on the size of your jar.

6. After the soy wax has cooled down, trim the wick so that about 1-inch of the wick remains for the user to light up when they use it.
